Drive-By Skidding
Fall soccer & flag football practices began this week on the NEW field at Southbrook Church. Our 9 soccer teams (71 players) and 5 flag football teams (39 players) will be competing against teams from Christ Covenant SOAR Sports and the Siskey YMCA.
The NEW Southbrook field has only been open for 2 days and we’ve already had our first “drive-by” skidding — a parent drives by the field, sees kids practicing, halts to a screeching stop, does an illegal U-turn in the middle of rush hour traffic, speeds into the parking lot, jumps out of the car (leaving the door ajar and the engine running), frantically asks the first person in sight a bunch of questions, gets re-directed to someone who can actually answer the questions, begs and pleads with the director for a spot on the team (the director caves), and then promises to fill out the online register form immediately upon arrival at home (which never happens).
Maybe they’ll end up playing and maybe not.
Maybe they’ll end up coming to Southbrook this weekend and maybe not (yes, I did give a personal invite).
Maybe they’ll be dramatically impacted and experience a life-altering change by participating with Legacy Sports this season and maybe not.
Only God knows but I bet he has something up his sleeve.
