What Makes You A Better Person?

One of the participants in the Cactus Softball League said, “playing in this league over the past few years has made me a better person.”  That is what the Cactus Softball League is all about.

On Saturday, the Angels topped the Mariners in the best-of-three World Series showdown to close out the season.  What would you decide between the following:

  1. Cactus World Series Champion
  2. Better Person from being part of the Cactus Softball League

Without hesitation, I would select option two 100% of the time.  I know this to be true because I’ve experienced both.  My team (naturally the Cubs) won the championship back in 2005.  It was great.  It was exciting.  It was fun.  Though the memory has not faded, the rest of the emotion wore off within hours.

On the other hand, just like the person quoted above, I have also become a better person by being part of the Cactus Softball League.  I’m “better” now than I was back in 2005.  Sure there were other factors that contributed to my betterment as a person, but the Cactus Softball League had a huge impact.

What activities are you involved in that make you a better person?  What activities are you involved in that make you a worse person?
